Magnetism Of The Frame And Attraction Of Mass

The top, bottom and sides of the frame exert "pull" on the elements in the visual field.

Without giving thought to the elements in the frame in relation to the edges, you can create effects you don't want. One effect you don't want is poor headroom (whether you're dealing with an actual person's head or any other object in the field).

You can also use magnetism to your advantage, but think through what you are attempting to do.

Psychological Closure

We are always trying to perceive patterns and relationships. Psychological closure occurs when elements are arranged in ways that help us make sense of images, or fill in the blanks.

One type of closure that we see all the time is closure off screen, or when enough of the image is visible that we assume the rest is out of our field of vision and we complete it mentally. An example of psychological closure.
