2-D Field

This section deals with screen space, the size and shape of the space, the size and shape of the things we put in the space, and the relationship among them. Four basic structural factors are

Aspect ratio—the relationship between the height and width of the screen and how we manage that space

Object and image size—size of objects on the screen and the judgments we make about size as a result of relationships we see in the screen space and the size of the image on the screen

Image sequencing—ways that relationships among images are established to cue viewers into information they need to understand the message.

Forces within the frame—The screen (whatever type or size) defines the limits of the visual field that are controlled by forces within the field.
