Storyboarding a Screenplay
Storyboards allow us to" visualize" presentations and sequence the events of a production in advance. Directors such as Stephen Spielberg and Alfred Hitchcock storyboard extensively. It has been noted that when Alfred Hitchcock began a shoot, he knew exactly what every detail in every shot would be.
The main principle behind visualization is to "clarify and intensify an event for the viewer"
Influences on visualization:
- purpose
- context
- preferences
- experiences
- skills
- audience
Use storyboarding to work out:
- "ways of looking" you'll portray
- fields of view you'll use in your shots
- points of view
- camera angles
