Our New Roof

Hurricane Irene tore up our roof in August of 2011.  Here is what one corner of the roof looked like:

It took a while to get the insurance claim processed, but shortly after that David Ross Roofing put a new roof on our house, on the 4th and 5th of October.  Here is the new roof:

Although the roofers used tarps to reduce the number of nails that got into the lawn and used a magnetic sweeper to get some of those that got into the yard anyway, Sylvia and I found a bunch of nails in the week after the roofers finished.  Suspecting that we were missing some, and knowing how roofing nails are attracted to tires, I purchased a magnetic sweeper and walked it around the yard.  Here are the nails I got on the first pass around the house:

I am confident that there are plenty more nails in the flower beds around the house, but since I don't run my mower through them, I am not going to worry about those nails now.
