Montelukast and Nasal Polyposis
Some medical research indicates that montelukast, an leukotriene receptor antagonists, may retard the growth of polyps in the sinuses and the noses. As one suffering from such polyps, this is of great interest to me. I have been taking montelukast in the hopes that it does retard the growth of my polyps, and thus increase the time I can go between surgeries to remove the damn polyps. I started using montelukast in 2002 and have not needed surgery since then. I have also not since then needed systemic steroids to keep my sense of smell intact.
