Cathy Williams Hargrave paid a visit to Matsumoto, which is the center of The Suzuki Method, several times in the past. She stayed for a long time on two separate occasions. She was directly taught the Suzuki Philosophy by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, and was eager to learn how to teach the Suzuki Piano Method under me, too.

It is with great joy that Cathy, who understands The Suzuki Method so well, has written a reading music book for the guidance of children.

I heartily hope that this book is useful for teaching children to read music.

Basic Rhythm Studies ($7.95-ret.; teachers receive a 10% discount) is a rhythm workbook for students and consists of 9 chapters and explanatory notes to teachers. Each chapter introduces one rhythmic unit common to virtually all levels of music and is to be introduced to the student by ear, then associated with a corresponding piece in Volume 1 of the Suzuki repertoire, and linked to its notation on the page.
