Those that are from Greenville, or [have] ECU connections will be happy to hear that I had a few people come to me here in Dar es Salaam and say, "Hey, don't you go to East Carolina University?" They continued to explain that there was a bit on CNN about the new Rec. center (best in the world?). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see it due to lack of a TV, but I guess the Pride is still there. Way to go Pirates (and ECU News Bureau?) :) --John

John,
Just read your posting on the CNN telecast. ECU has an up and coming
sports diagnostic center--still to be completed. Olympians will train
and be medically monitored here. It is all very exciting. The person who
was the primary moving force--not the only one--is a good friend of
mine, one of the vice-chancellors, Al Delia. He introduced the spot, and
then others close to it all (Al is not in the sports component of
ECU, but in development of all kinds) took over. It was quite good--but
the rec center it was not! All the best, Dr. K.
