Public Health in Ireland
Faculty

Dr. Sloane Burke returns for her third year as Summer Study Abroad faculty.  After the 2011 Summer Study Abroad trip to Switzerland, she  received an offer she couldn't refuse- the opportunity to return to her alma mater, California State University-Northridge, as a faculty member in is its esteemed Masters of Public Health program.    From 2006 - 2011 she was much loved professor in ECU's Dept. of Health Education and Promotion where her expertise and academic interest were focused on global health.  She is an experienced traveler and has visited over 55 countries .  She was the Faculty Director for both the 2010 "Public Health in Ireland"  and the 2011 "Switzerland and the World Health Organization" Summer Study Abroad programs.  She is excited about this "East Coast-West Coast" collaboration and is looking forward to working with her ECU students again and introducing them to her new CSUN students.

Karen Vail-Smith
has been a faculty member in the Dept. of Health Education and Promotion for over 20 years and is an award-winning instructor.  This is her third Summer Study Abroad trip with  Dr. Burke.  This is also Ms. Vail-Smith's third trip to Ireland...her very favorite place in the whole world!   She looks forward to returning to the Emerald Isle and working again with Dr. Burke.
