The course will certify a student as having passed the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Boating Skills and Seamanship Course.  After passing the course, students will be certified as users of ECU Boats available for research and teaching. A link to the ECU boating policy and regulations is listed hereCourse materials (text and charts) will be distributed in the first class, for which there is a $35.00 fee.  Red Cross First Aid/CPR course is required for ECU boating use and is an additional $30.00.

Grading: The final exam is the USCG exam, which you must pass to get the certification card (2000 points). To prepare for the final USCG exam, homework will be assigned (400 points). Also, a boat rodeo will be held on Saturday  where you will be tested on the water with boats (100 points). Homework assignments and boat rodeo grade will be included in the final grade for this course, which will be determined as a percentage of the total points (2500 points).
