Help, My ECU E-Mail is Broken!

The most common cause for a student’s email account being crippled for more than a short period of time is that the student has allowed the number of emails stored on the account to grow so large that there is no more room for new email. When this happens, any email sent to that student’s account will be bounced back to the sender. The student may also receive daily email messages about the account being disabled. The way to avoid this is to delete email that is no longer needed. The way to fix this once it happens is to delete a bunch of email. This can be awkward to do using the web interface, but if you use Outlook Express to read your email from home or Student Outlook to read it from a computer in a campus lab it is relatively easy. If you need help, contact the Student Help Desk at 252-328-4968.

Short term problems with email are most often caused by network or server problems, about which the individual student can do nothing. Try to be patient. I know, easier said than done.
