Email sent from any mail server other than ECU's to any of the distribution lists that have been set up for faculty senate committees will be refused by ECU's mail server. Since most faculty use ISP's that require use of the ISP's outgoing server rather than ECU's, this means that most mail sent to such lists by faculty from home or other remote locations will be rejected. One way around this is to use the web interface to PirateMail -- but dialup users will find this very unsatisfactory.
My guess is that this restriction was designed to keep spam off of these lists. With MailMarshal in place, are such restrictions still needed?
