What is My
Current Grade in PSYC 1000?
After the first test
- Add to your test score up to csurvey/research points, if you have earned them.
- Use the Grade Table below to
determine your current grade
After the second test
- Sum your two test scores.
- Add to your test score up to 4 x 10 = 40 survey/research points, if you have earned them.
- Divide the total by two.
Do not round up.
- Use the Grade Table below to
determine your current grade.
After the third test
- Sum your three test scores.
- Add to your test score up to
4 x 10 = 40 survey/research points, if you have earned them.
- Divide the total by three.
Do not round up.
- Use the Grade Table below to
determine your current grade.

What score do I need on the 4th exam to get the
grade I want?
| Total Points |

| 360 |

| 320 |
B |
| 280 |
C |
| 240 |
D |
| < 240 |

- From the table above, select the grade you want. Suppose Mary
wants an A.
- To get the grade you want, you need to accumulate at least as many
points as indicated under "Total Points." Mary needs to accumulate 360
points to get an A.
- Check, in BlackBoard, how many total points you have, including points
for research and survey participation. Mary has 268.
- Subtract from the total number of points you need the number you have.
For Mary, 360-268 = 92. Mary needs to score a 92 or better to get her
A.
- Mary wonders "how poorly could I do on the fourth exam and still get a
B?" She subtracts 268 from 320. If her fourth exam score is
between 52 and 91 she will have a B as her final grade.
What scores do I need on the makeup exam and the 4th
exam to get the grade I want?
- Find the desired number of total points, as above.
- Find how many total points you have earned. If you are replacing
an exam score, subtract from your total points the number of points earned
on the exam on which you scored lowest. For example, Clay has a total
of 208 points. His score on the second exam, a 37, was much lower than
his score on the first and third exam, so he is going to replace that score.
After removing those 37 points, Clay has adjusted total points = 171.
- Subtract the adjusted total points from the total points required for
the grade you want. This tells you how many points you need to earn on
the makeup exam and the fourth exam combined to get the grade you want.
Clay wants a C, so he subtracts 171 from 280 and gets 109. He needs
only 109 points on the two exams combined to get the C. Now he is
thinking maybe he can get a B. He subtracts 171 from 320 and gets 149.
If he can get 149 points on the makeup exam and the fourth exam, he has the
B. Can Clay get an A? Subtract 171 from 360 and you see that
Clay would have to earn 189 points on the makeup and fourth exams, so an A
is within reach.
At the end of the
semester
- Using your "TOTAL POINTS" from
the BlackBoard Gradebook
- Determine your grade using the
Grade Table Below.
| Points Earned |
Letter Grade |
| 360 - 412 |
A |
| 320 - 259 |
B |
| 280 - 319 |
C |
| 240 - 279 |
D |
| 0 - 239 |
