R Data Sets -- many sets of data, in CSV format, not just for R users.
OKCupid -- A very large dataset (N = 68,371, 2,620 variables) from the dating site OKCupid is presented and made publicly available for use by others. I can see using in this my stats classes. The data are compressed into 7-zip file, which, when uncompressed, is in csv format. Much of the data is alphanumeric and will need be recoded to numeric for some analyses.

When you download a data file, you may need to reformat it so that it is easier to use with your favorite stats software. Here is an example of how to convert a tab-delimited text data file to an Excel .xlsx file or an SPSS .sav file.
