PSYC 6430: Standing Assignment to Obtain Published Examples of Major Statistical Techniques

For each of the statistical techniques listed below, you should obtain a published example of the use of that analytic technique and prepare a summary of how that technique was employed and how it was presented in the article. You may be called upon to share (electronically) your summary with the class. Be sure that your summary includes each of the components listed below.

• Pearson Chi-Square Analysis of Contingency Table (Howell Chapter 6)
• Two-Sample T-Test, Correlated or Independent (Chapter 7)
• Bivariate (Two Variable) Correlation or Regression Analysis (Chapter 9)
• Multiple (Two or more Predictor Variables) Correlation/Regression Analysis
• One-Way Analysis of Variance (Chapter 11)
• Two-Way Analysis of Variance (Chapter 13)

• Of which statistical technique is this an example?
• Identification of the article as it would be listed in an APA-style Reference List.
• Who or what were the subjects?
• What were the two variables studied, and how were they measured or manipulated?
• Was the study experimental or observational?
• In your words, what did the analysis show?
• Quote the author's summary statement, the statement in which the results of the statistical technique were presented. Summarize, as best you can, any part of tabular or graphic presentation which is necessary to understand that statement.
