SAS for the Macintosh

Yes, SAS is available for the Macintosh, but it is an old version and it is not supported. Nevertheless, ECU students who own Macs and are taking a class that includes instruction in SAS will probably want to get it from our university bookstore. Here is a comment from a Mac using student taking PSYC 6430 Autumn semester, 2001:

Well, the people at the bookstore finally got me a copy of SAS for Macs. Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, the version is 6.12, and so far has proved to be kind of a pain. For example, when I type in the command line about page numbers (options pageno=min blah blah blah), I get an error message telling me that page numbers require an integer. Some of the abbreviations for commands are different, also. Kurtosis and Skewness must be spelled out, unlike in 8.0 where you can just type skew and kurt. Also, I cannot figure out how to compute the median on 6.12. It keeps underlining the command in the log and telling me the command doesn't exist or can't be found.

Karl replied:

With some adjustments, I predict you will master the Mac version of SAS. For example, try "options pageno=1" (I am guessing). To get the median, use PROC UNIVARIATE, it should be included in its output.
