- Professional: Sheryl received her Ph.D. in Experimental
Psychology/Neurobiology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr.
Moy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UNC, and serves
as Director of the Mouse Behavioral Phenotyping Laboratory, a core facility of
the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD). Dr. Moy holds a
doctorate in Experimental and Biological Psychology, with a focus on behavioral
pharmacology, and she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Brain and
Development Research Center at UNC. Her area of expertise is the development and
testing of rodent models for human clinical syndromes, including models for
autism, schizophrenia, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Current efforts
include the behavioral, pharmacological, and neuroanatomical characterization of
mouse models for repetitive behavior and restricted interests observed in autism
spectrum disorders, and neonatal behavioral evaluations in a mouse model of NMDA
receptor hypofunction, relevant to schizophrenia. In addition, Dr. Moy has
served as an investigator or collaborator on multiple projects from CIDD
investigators, including studies focused on gene x environment interactions and
preclinical efficacy testing with novel therapeutic agents.

University. Worked as a Visiting Lecturer in Psychology, Georgia State

drugs and behavior, but have now returned to Emory on a postdoc position in an
outstanding brain imaging lab devoted to studies of psychopathology (Doug
Bremner is the PI). Just what I always wanted! My official title is

assistant professor in Psychology at East Carolina University. Mary is

Psychology and sociology instructor for Craven Community College at the
Havelock/Cherry Point campus. I enjoy teaching adult nontraditional college
transfer students. I have also taught in the Huskins program for 10 years. This
program allows gifted high school students to take college classes for both high
school and college credit tuition free -- it’s like teaching puppies- fun but
exhausting! Prior to earning my M.A. in psychology at ECU, I earned an M.Ed. in
Counseling from the University of Maryland. Since earning my psych degree, I
have also earned 18 graduate hours in sociology, allowing me to teach in that
area. I won the Teacher of the Year award at Craven CC in 2008-2009.
That was a highpoint.

University of Virginia. I am currently the Scientific Review Officer (SRO) for
the Neurobiology of Motivated Behavior study section at the Center for
Scientific Review (CSR) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This
group evaluates applications dealing with the neurobiological underpinnings of
addiction, stress, anxiety, and ingestive behavior. I also often serve as the
SRO for three additional standing review panels: the Cognitive Neuroscience,
Auditory, and Biological Rhythms and Sleep study sections. In addition, I
regularly review other neuroscience applications on topics such as
neuroimmunology, neuroendocrinology, somatosensory integration, central visual
processing, and the neurobiology of learning and memory. Each summer I also
convene a dedicated panel to review proposals from early stage investigators in
the addiction field.
