Mapping a Drive to the Personal Server

    This only works on-campus.

  1. The computer is on the campus network, set up automatically to log on to the network when you boot it up.

  2. Right click on the desktop and select NEW, SHORTCUT. On the command line enter the path to the folder to/from which you wish to be able to drag and drop files – that is, to \\personal\wwwroot\userid -- for me, that is to \\personal\wwwroot\wuenschk. You will also provide a name for the shortcut.

  3. If everything looks fine but you do not have write access to the files in your directory, there is a bad setting on the server. This happened to me. Jo Lynn Daughtry fixed it for me.

  4. You may have to restart your computer for the shortcut to work, but I did not have to.
