Setup Outlook Express to Read Your ECU Email

Click Tool, Accounts, Mail, Add, Mail.

Enter your name as you wish it displayed in the header.  Next.

Enter your email address, for example, klw1127@ecu.edu.  Next.

Select IMAP and identify your incoming and outgoing email servers.

Notice that I entered as the Outgoing mail server smtp.suddenlink.net, which is the outgoing mail server provided by my ISP.  You should enter the outgoing mail server for your ISP.  You could try using piratemail.ecu.edu, but most ISPs will not allow that.

    Next.

Enter your PirateMail Account name and Password.  Do NOT check "Log on using Secure Password Authentication.  Next.

Next, Finish.  Now you need to set up authentication for the outgoing mail server, if required by your outgoing mail server.  In the Internet Accounts window select the piratemail account and click Properties, Servers.  Check "My server requires authentication."

Click Settings.  Enter your Account name and password for the outgoing mail server.

OK, OK, Close.  Allow OE to download servers from the server.

Indicate which folders you wish to show and which to hide.  OK.

Try sending a piece of email to be sure the outgoing mail server works as you have set it up.  If it does not, fiddle with the settings until it does work.
