    ECUPSY-L is designed to facilitate electronic communication among faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the Department of Psychology at East Carolina University. ECUPSY-L is a message redistribution facility for ECU Psychologists. Any mail message sent to ECUPSY-L will be redistributed to all persons who have joined the list.

    To receive ECUPSY-L messages, you must first subscribe to the list. To subscribe to the list you should send email to the following address: LISTSERV@Listserv.ecu.edu

    In the body of the email you send to the listserv, type this:

    SUBSCRIBE ECUPSY-L your name

    If your name were Wilhelm Wundt, you would type:

    SUBSCRIBE ECUPSY-L Wilhelm Wundt

    Include no other text in the email to the listserv, not even a signature file. Sometimes HTML code in email confuses the Listserv, so I recommend that you send plain text.  Send your subscription request.  You will receive a reply from the listserv asking you to confirm your subscription. Follow the instructions in that reply and you will be subscribed. You will then receive an informative mailing advising of some of the basics of dealing with listserv machines.

    So why should you subscribe? Well, if you are a graduate student, you should subscribe so you promptly receive important notices sent by faculty or other students. If you are a computer user who might benefit from the informative messages posted by other computer-wise ECU Psychologists, you should subscribe. If you think you might have informative messages or other interesting material to post to the group, you should subscribe. If you would like to ask questions of the group, you should subscribe. If you don't subscribe, you should consult a clinical psychologist for help with your personality problem or your organic brain dysfunction.

    If you expect to graduate with a Masters or a Ph.D. from our department, you should expect to be completing a thesis and/or a dissertation.  When it comes times to defend your thesis or dissertation you will be expected to send out an announcement on ECUPSY-L.  See my thesis tip on this.
