    OBJECTIVES

    Curriculum Standards for Social Studies

    Strandard 1: Provide for the study of culture and cultural diversity.
    Strandard 3: Study of people, places, and environments.

     

    National Geographic Standards

    Standard 1: How to use maps and other geographic representations, tools, and technologies to acquire, process, and report information from a spatial perspective.
    Standard 2: How to use mental maps to organize information about people, places, and environments in a spatial context.
    Standard 4: The physical and human characteristics of places.

     

    North Carolina Standard Course of Study

    Goal 2: The learner will infer that individuals, families, and institutions in neighborhoods and communities are and have alike and different.
    2.2 Describe similarities and differences among families in different neighborhoods and communities.
    2.3 Distinguish similarities and differences among institutions in different neighborhoods and communities.

    Goal 3: The learner will analyze multiple roles in families, work places, neighborhoods, and communities.
    3.2 Describe multiple roles performed by children in other neighborhoods and communities.
    3.3 Describe multiple roles performed by adults in neighborhoods and communities.
