"Public Health in EnglandÓ

Open to all majors, this Summer Study Abroad program is designed to provide a comparative analysis of the health care delivery systems in the U.S. and England.  Guest faculty from Britain's most prestigious health organizations will provide students a comprehensive picture of the British National Health Service (NHS) and how it compares to our system in the U.S.   London is also the headquarters of many international public health organizations and institutions, which we will also visit.  After a week of site visits with British and international public health policy makers, we will explore many of the historical and cultural sites of London and then venture beyond London to cities like York, Cambridge and Bath.

Led once again by Dr. Don Chaney and Karen Vail-Smith, this program was a student favorite in 2015, 2016 and 2017.  Admission is expected to be highly competitive, so contact Ms. Vail-Smith early if you are interested and want to be on our email update list (vailsmithk@ecu.edu).   Estimated program cost (which includes lodging, tuition/fees, transportation costs within England, some meals and admission costs for attractions/cultural events) is $3200.
