American Literature Seminar:
Early American Literature
and Its Later Influences
Fall 2002



In this course, students will read works of American literature in pairs, one from the early American period (before 1800) and one from the nineteenth or twentieth century that was inspired by the earlier work, to explore how and why various stories get told and retold over time.
