Notes Weeks 11-12

Submit a plan for the training

For this part of your training development project, you'll use one of the templates provided on the CD with your Foshay book to plan, or storyboard, your training. If you did not receive the CD with your book, I have also placed these templates in the Course Docs section of Blackboard.

WIIFM you ask? One of the aspects of training that can make or break its success is planning and sequencing your training. If you use one of the templates (or something similar of your own creation) you'll be better able to identify gaps in the training, or to recognize areas that you need to strengthen with examples, feedback or other training elements.

What to do

Look over the templates and the examples of the authors' uses of them in the Foshay book. Choose a template that best works with the training that you're developing.

Complete the template by filling in the sections of the template. You may need to make adjustments in the template you choose to match any variations in your training. If you prefer to use your own planning tool, that's fine; but why reinvent the wheel?

Don't include every detail of the training materials in your template--this is a script or plan for checking and implementing your content and sequencing. It will also help you think about the points in training that you are introducing facts, concepts, principles, and procedures.

You may have already completed some of your training materials and that's fine. Go through the materials that you have and fill in the template by writing in what you already have developed. See what else you need to add for your training.

Submit the materials to the digital drop box on Blackboard. PLEASE put your names on the document you submit AND include your last name in the file name whane you save the file. If you aren't sure how to name your files, please review the information in the syllabus.
