Trail 3

[Writing Valley]

Dates: 2/18 - 3/1

"When the time came to begin writing my paper, the work seemed agonizingly slow...I now realize that one
major reason I got bogged down writing my research paper was my inattention to note-taking.  I now
believe that the writing that takes place in the middle of the research process may be as important, if not
more so, than the writing that takes place at the end." Bruce Ballenger

Congratulations! You have completed the base camp experience and trails one and two.  In trail three, we will do some in-depth exploration of reading and writing pedagogy. We will focus on action research projects involving the teaching of writing, and we will learn some new methods of teaching writing. Here's a big question:

Do you teach writing the way you were taught? Do you teach a writing method that matches the way you write?

Goals
To be able to refine your action research studies by encountering and analyzing
published models.

To learn pedagogical principles behind the effective teaching of writing
