Base Camp-4
Exercise
Introduction
The following exercise will result in you creating a web page that will be updated with projects and information as you proceed with the class.

WHO

ARE YOU?
Take the Quick Myers-Briggs Personality Test: http://www.haleonline.com
After finishing the online survey and discovering your personality "score," write the score (i.e., ISTJ) down.
Assess what your score (example: "ENFP") means by reviewing this site: http://personalitypage.com/high-level.html

Somewhere on your computer, in an e-mail, word file, or stickie, write the down the personality traits listed under your personality category that are true for you. Save this information temporarily. You will post this information on your web site after a few more steps.

Web Work: There are 2 Options
Option #1 Novices)

Create a web site using a web builder program -like Homestead - that includes online space for you to store 6510DE material. Just follow the easy steps for building a web site. Even better, use a Blogger.

You may use other web-building software/space at Geocities.com or Angelfire.com

What should the Web Page or Blogger Include?

  1. Your first & last Name
  2. E-mail address
  3. Picture of you (optional)
  4. Your personality score, including a brief description of how well this personality designation fits you, and why.
  5. A link from your main web page ("homepage") to a separate page that you call Research Chart. On the research chart page, write the following list of terms in a single column (like a spelling list - we'll fill this list in further into the course):
    1. ROLE
    2. CURRICULUM AREA
    3. STARTING POINT
    4. PROBLEM STATEMENT
    5. FURTHER QUESTIONS
    6. BIBLIOGRAPHY OR LITERATURE REVIEW
    7. DATA COLLECTION PLAN
    8. DATA MATRIX.
  6. Create another link from your homepage to a new page that you call Draft of Article. For now, leave this page blank, except for the title.
  7. (Optional) Links to other pages of interest, graphics or animation that expresses your personality.

Important! Please post your URL (example: http://jefftheus6510DEwebpage) to the threaded discussion board on blackboard and email a copy to me at finleyt@mail.ecu.edu. As always, write down your name and e-mail address in the message board in case I need to contact you quickly about your WWW page.

Done? Then skip to the bottom of the page.

Option #2 (For Those Familiar with Web Building & are able to FTP to an Available Server)

FYI - this web page was created in Dreamweaver, a robust program that took me two months to learn because I don't like to read manuals.

Create a web site using html code, or any number of web building programs (Dreamweaver, Adobe Pagemill, Netscape Composer, etc.).

What should the Web Page Include?

  1. Your first & last Name
  2. Your E-mail address
  3. A picture of you (optional)
  4. Your personality score, including a brief description of how well this personality designation fits you, and why.
  5. A link from your main web page ("homepage") to a separate page that you call Research Chart. On this page, write the following list of terms in a single column (like a spelling list): ROLE, CURRICULUM AREA, STARTING POINT, PROBLEM STATEMENT, FURTHER QUESTIONS, BIBLIOGRAPHY OR LITERATURE REVIEW, DATA COLLECTION PLAN, DATA MATRIX.
  6. Create another link from your homepage to a new page that you call Draft of Article. For now, leave this page blank, except for the title.
  7. (Optional) Links to other pages of interest, graphics or animation that expresses your personality. (Example: Scribbling Women )
Please post your URL (example: http://jefftheus6510DEwebpage) to Blackboard's threaded discussion board. As always, write down your name and e-mail address in the message board, in case I need to contact you quickly about your WWW page.
