A group of about 60 professionals from Eastern North Carolina will team up to minister to the needs of the people in the capital city Georgetown and its surrounding areas.

February 19, 2005: African American Reading Day


Several faculty and students participated in 2005 African American Reading Day at Ledonia Wright cultural Center. There were two sessions. Participants included Assistant Vice Chancellor Lathan Turner and professors Deena, Melvin, Miles, Socolovsky, Southern, and Watson.




November 20, 2004. CLASS-Center for Learning and Advanced Scientific Studies


Seodial F. Deena, Debbie Deena, Prof. Tope Bello, Mrs. Wendy Peterson, Ms. Terry Congleton, and Ms. Jennifer Harris organized CLASS-Center for Learning and Advanced Scientific Studies. CLASS develops, evaluates, and disseminates information and programs that foster the ethical, social, spiritual, and intellectual development of under-represented students in Math, Science, and Technology. This Saturday Academy consisted of 38 students from grades 4 to 10, and was taught by ECU professors and Pitt County Residents. The first semester (Fall 2004) was a great success, and it will be continued in the spring of 2005.

 



November 16, 2004. Multicultural/International Reading Day at Ledonia Wright Cultural Center


Approximately 85-90 in attendance including Chancellor Ballard-who gave the opening address, Vice Chancellor Garrie Moore, Assistant Vice Chancellor Lathan Turner, faculty, staff, students, and residents from the community.
