Biography Merle Hodge was born in Curepe, Trinidad in 1944. She won the Trinidad and Tobago Island scholarship when she attended bishop Anstey’s High School. With this scholarship, Hodge attended University College, London. Cooper earned her Master’s degree in Philosophy. She moved back to Trinidad in the 1970’s. Cooper took a job as a lecturer in the French Department of the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. Cooper went to work for Maurice Bishop, prime minister of Grenada, in 1979. She held the position of director of the development of curriculum. She had this job until the assassination of Bishop. Hodge now works in the University of West Indies, Trinidad. |
