Welcome to the Web-Based Communication Modules for Service Learning!

servire imageThe modules are intended to help ECU faculty work collaboratively with engagement initiatives on campus supporting ECU’s motto “servire” or “to serve.”

Here’s one-stop to find the things you need to develop service learning projects that help you and your students get out of the classroom and into the community to make a difference in people’s lives. At the same time your students can learn valuable skills, learn to apply their knowledge, and importantly, meet your course objectives in the process!

Busy faculty don’t have a lot of time to spare, and adding a long list of tasks to your “to do” list doesn’t really help. These modules show you the basics to get your community-focused class projects up and running relatively quickly. You will reap the benefits of scholar educators experienced with service learning by using the best practices offered here.

You’ll find plenty of other resources here as well: podcasts with community partners, communication strategies to solve problems and build effective relationships, assessment tools for evaluating service learning initiatives, handouts for students, useful websites showing service learning resources beyond campus, and more.
