Analysis of Anions
OBJECTIVE
The objective is to perform chemical reactions using solid salts known to contain specific anions. Observations from the reactions with the known compounds will then be used to identify the anions present in unknown solids.
OVERVIEW
In this experiment you will use differences in solubility as well as specific chemical behaviors to identify a series of common anions.
Experiments performed on small samples of known salts will be used as a guide for the subsequent identification of unknown solid salts.
