ListServ for Blackboard

We have created a ListServ for Blackboard. A ListServ is a method of distributing information to a group of individuals with a common interest. The information is delivered to you through your email account.

To subscribe to this ListServ by:

Send a message to: listproc@seagull.sit.ecu.edu

in the message body: sub blackboard your_first_name your_last_name

Note the space between the first and last name.

To send a message to the list:

Send the message to: blackboard@seagull.sit.ecu.edu

Make sure you use a subject.  Please note a message sent to the list will be distributed to everyone on the list.

To unsubscribe the list:

To unsubscribe send a blank email to: leave-blackboard-628W@seagull.sit.ecu.edu

What to send to a ListServ

This ListServ would be a forum for problems you are having with Blackboard that do not require immediate help. If you need immediate help Contact the Administrator for administrative help and your Instructional Technology Consultant for course related problems. A good example of what should be sent would be Dr. Cooper's alert that students with only two initials will have a "@" put at the end of their name. The ListServ will also be a forum to discuss how you would like to see Blackboard at ECU better serve the faculty. This would include suggestions and criticisms. Remember, the ListServ will be most effective if the tone is kept positive.

Responding to a Posting

Messages sent to the ListServ are called a posting. This is because everyone on the list will get the message. When you respond to a ListServ you will want to pay attention to which Reply button you use. If you choose "Reply"  you will send your reply to the entire list. If you want to reply  to the person who wrote the note, you will have to cut and paste their address into a new note.  A good thing to do is to ALWAYS check what is listed in the To: line of your mail BEFORE you send the message out.
