Managing Course Options

The Course Options area of Site Management allows the instructor to customize the look and feel of the course. This includes changing the button style and availability, adding banners and images to the course pages, and designating a course name and category.

Changing Button Style

To change the style or color of the course buttons:

Step 1: From the Control Panel choose Course Options.


 

Step 2: From the Change Button Style area, select a new button type.
Step 3: Click Submit to complete the process.

Step 4: A confirmation screen will appear. Choose Back to continue working in the Course Options area, or return to the Control Panel or Course by selecting the appropriate button from the top of the course window.

Changing Button Availability
This option allows the instructor to turn on and off buttons that appear on the course. Setting a feature to "enabled" or "disabled" adds or removes that feature from the course. The Security option (S) allows you to limit the course information available to Guest users.

To change button availability:

Step 1: From the Control Panel choose Course Options.
 
  Step 2: Make the appropriate changes and click the Submit button.

Step 3: A confirmation screen will appear. Choose Back to continue working in the Course Options area, or return to the Control Panel or Course by selecting the appropriate button from the top of the course window.

Upload/Remove Front Page Banner
The front page banner options provide the instructor the opportunity to place a banner graphic on the main course window. This can be a banner with the course title, or any other item.

To upload a banner:

Step 1: From the Control Panel choose Course Options.

Step 2: In the Upload Front Page Banner area, select Browse.

Note: The recommended image size is 450x90 pixels.

Step 3: Select Submit to complete the process.

Step 4: A confirmation screen will appear. Choose Back to continue working in the Course Options area, or return to the Control Panel or Course by selecting the appropriate button from the top of the course window.

To remove a banner:
Step 1: From the Control Panel choose Course Options.

Step 2: In the Remove Front Page Banner area, select Submit.

Step 3: A confirmation screen will appear. Choose Back to continue working in the Course Options area, or return to the Control Panel or Course by selecting the appropriate button from the top of the course window.

Change Course Information

Instructors have the ability to change the course name and/or description at any point after course creation. This may be useful if the code numbers (example CES 105) change between semesters.

To change the course name and/or description:

Step 1: From the Control Panel choose Course Options.

Step 2: Make the appropriate changes and click the Submit button.
 

Note: Select a subject area from the drop down menu. The subject areas are predefined by the administrator. You can specify a topic within a subject area by selecting from the second drop down menu.
Step 3: A confirmation screen will appear. Choose Back to continue working in the Course Options area, or return to the Control Panel or Course by selecting the appropriate button from the top of the course window.
