What happens to proteins after they are synthesized--folding into their correct secondary and tertiary structures.
The primary structure has all the information for folding, and proteins fold even as they are made.
Assistance is sometimes needed--like even though the buttons are there and you can sometimes button them yourself, sometimes it takes your husband to button up your dress.
Chaperones are the overall type of protein that functions in folding; also used for carrying proteins to their destinations in the cell
