This shows the features of the tRNA that distinguish it from other tRNAs. This tRNA is recognized by the tRNA synthetase to aminoacylate it, also by the formyl transferase to formylate the methionine.
The donor for the formyl group is N10 tetrahydrofolate, a vitamin (folic acid) derivative).
Note that the N-formyl group resembles a peptide group, so that the tRNA is an analog of a peptidyl chain.
