A and P and E sites are formed when the two subunits associate. They are tRNA binding sites. The order is EPA. This picture summarizes the basic steps. You can think of the ribosome moving along the mRNA. This is showing elongation, the phase in which there is a cyclical addition of amino acids to the chain.
