purple dotHow this course works:

This course uses a web-based content interface. Labs each have a page that describes the lab and where students should downloaded each lab guide. Each student will also be expected to obtain materials for each lab and those materials are outlined on this lab materials list. Students do not need to purchase a lab manual for this course.

Lessons are grouped on into weekly Laboratory assignments based on topics. Students should take time during the week to prepare for the lab, conduct the lab as outlined in each laboratory procedure, and write up the lab based on each lab requirement, and place the completed lab in a notebook to be submitted twice during the semester. Lab notebooks should be shipped to Attn://John Conoley, Department of Biology, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC 27858 on or before the dates given above.

Labs are correlated with the material found in Botkin, D.B. & Keller, E. A. (2004). Environmental Science, 5th Ed. John Wiley & Sons: New York. This textbook, however, is not required for the lab course. Content resources will be made available under Additional Resources for each Lab. Additional research by students for content materials may be required.

purple dotLaboratory Safety :
Purple Line

Labs conducted in an online laboratory course require students to use common sense with regard to safety and to be knowledgable ahead of time regarding safe practices and procedures. If you ever have a safety question, contact the instructor before proceeding with the laboratory procedure.
