ECU Spring 2008 Academic Calendar

How this course works:
This course uses a web-based content interface in combination with ECU Blackboard. Lessons are grouped on into weekly sections based on topics. Students should expect to spend a significant amount of time on each weekly lesson, as these lessons are comprised of an average of two to three chapters per week. Each weekly lesson will include an introduction, learning objectives, learning activities, a review, additional resources and assignments for that week. Students should work their way through each lesson completing all of the weekly learning activities, reviews, and assignments.

All assignments can be found by following the topical outline above. Assignments for each weekly module should be completed and submitted by 12pm on the Saturday of the week assigned, no exceptions. Assignments must be submitted using the corresponding sections for this course located on ECU Blackboard. Blackboard downtime can be expected during the semester, so allow plenty of time to submit assignments. Assignment grades will be posted on ECU Blackboard, as well.

Four Quizzes are scheduled throughout the semester and will be administered via ECU Blackboard. Midterm and Final Exams will also be administered via ECU Blackboard.

Should you have difficulty using Blackboard, please contact the instructor or there are tutorials available online at http://www.ecu.edu/elearning/orientation/Blackboard/Bbtutorial.htm.

First, you should open a Word or other word processing software to complete your assignment. Each assignment to be submitted must contain a header with the following information:

LAST NAME, then FIRST NAME (Conoley, John)
ASSIGNMENT (Week 1 Questions)
COURSE (Bio 1060)
DATE (8/25/05)
NUMBER OF PAGES (Page 1)

A tutorial on how to create a header in MS Word can be found here.

If you use other software and cannot insert a header with the appropriate information please let me know.

Complete the assignment in a word processing document following the directions given with the assignment. Allow yourself plenty of time to complete and submit the assignment, as technology difficulties will not be an acceptable excuse for late work.

Once the assignment is complete, save the assignment using your first lastname_firstname_week# with the file extension ".doc" or ".rtf". An example of this would be for the assignment on week1, I would save my file as conoley_john_week1.doc.

Once you have properly formatted the header and the name of the document, login to ECU Blackboard. Navigate to this course and locate the appropriate folder for that week. Inside the folder there is a submission box to click. Browse to your document and submit.
